Cellcard has achieved major international recognition having been listed in Business Insider’s “100 People Transforming Business in Asia”.
Business Insider is an American financial and business news website published across 14 nations and followed by more than 10 million professionals on Facebook alone.
The prestigious list, which puts Cellcard alongside major global companies such as Tencent, Tik Tok, Xiaomi and Razer, promotes individuals who are driving change and innovation in their companies and across industries.
When interviewed, Cellcard Chief Executive Officer Ian Watson told Business Insider he was a believer in the humanitarian impact of digitalisation especially in Cambodia’s rural areas.
“Digital empowerment will change people’s lives for the better by advancing education, health, agriculture, and farming, and deliver access to the world for all Cambodians,” he said.
“Cellcard’s role as the only Proudly Khmer mobile network is to ensure the introduction of 5G improves living standards for all and indeed improves lives.”
He said making the list was great recognition for Cellcard and the Royal Group ICT Division.
“We are committed to delivering on our Chairman Neak Oknha Kith Meng’s vision for a fully digitalised Cambodia in support of the Royal Government and Industry 4.0.”
- Cellcard was the first operator in Cambodia to do live 5G trials in September 2018.
- One year later Cellcard installed Cambodia’s first Standalone (SA) 5G site.
- In March 2020, Cellcard launched Cambodia’s first 5G use case, a telemedicine service to help the Ministry of Health in its nation-wide response to the Covid pandemic.
