Cellcard has teamed up with USAID Greening Prey Lang to roll out an awareness campaign to mark this year’s Earth Day, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and protection of the environment.
The annual event falls on April 22 and sees organisations worldwide take action against climate change through a series of initiatives. In line with this year’s theme ‘Restore our Earth’, Cellcard influencers Bunleng, Megamind and Mina have produced a video that calls on Cambodians to play their part in protecting the planet.
In the video, the talented trio advise their audience to recycle plastic bottles as well as reduce their overall use of plastics.
Cambodia is also home to wildlife that faces extinction, often as a result of illegal poaching, and the three urge viewers to preserve these precious animals for future generations by not eating wild meat.
Additionally, the campaign encourages people to cut their electricity and water consumption. This not only helps to reduce bills but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.
Everyone is invited to join the campaign and also to win a range of prizes. For a chance to win, participants can simply post a photo or video showing how they plan to restore the earth. This should be accompanied by the hashtags #EarthDayCambodia2021 and #RestoreOurEarth.
The 35 posts that receive the most engagement by the end of the competition will win a prize, so tag your friends and tell them to start sharing, liking and commenting.
Cellcard Chief Executive Officer Ian Watson said that, as the only 100% Cambodian-owned mobile operator, the project forms part of the company’s wider social and economic commitments.
“We are proud to join USAID Greening Prey Lang to mark Earth Day 2021, and we believe Bunleng, Megamind and Mina’s creative work will inspire innovative ways to save the planet across the country. I’m also looking forward to seeing what our customers come up with in the competition.”
In March, Cellcard and USAID Greening Prey Lang launched a campaign to promote domestic tourism. They sent two Cellcard influencers, Bunleng and Rainnie Dara, together with three fans to Preah Vihear to encourage people to explore the province as soon as it is safe to do so.
