The School of Football Championships, a project between Cambodian award-winning operator, Cellcard, and the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), goes to Siem Reap to hold its 8th match of the 2019 tournament.
The match at Siem Reap stadium was held on 2 February involving four teams from Siem Reap and Preah Vihea provinces and attracted a full audience of friends, fans and supporters, including the Cellcard Facebook fans and members of the media.
This year’s School of Football tournament aims to not only unearth the next generation of football stars, but also create a positive impact in the communities surrounding eth schools that take part.
Cellcard and FFC have worked together to include a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) component to reach out and support marginalized children.
One of the first organisations to receive support is the Angkor Kids Center which is dedicated to providing education for more than 200 rural Cambodian children aged five to 15.
Cellcard and FFC visited the centre to present food and school supplies together with some of the footballers involved in the tournaments.
The School of Football program continues until April 2019 with CSR visits included into each province involved – the next being Banteay Meanchey .
